What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Similar technologies — such as pixels, tags and browser storage — work in comparable ways. They allow a site to remember things between page views, such as what you were looking at, or that you have already seen a message.
Your choice comes first
When you first visit, a notice asks whether you accept optional cookies. Until you choose “Accept all”, no analytics or advertising cookie is set on your device and no identifier is stored. The Meta Pixel is not loaded at all before that choice: no request is made to it. Google Tag Manager does load on every page, but in a restricted mode — Google’s Consent Mode, set by this Site to deny storage — under which it is not permitted to write cookies or store advertising or analytics identifiers, and any information it receives is limited and carries no advertising click identifier. Choosing “Essential only” keeps it in that restricted mode permanently. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page — withdrawing returns Google to the restricted mode, stops the Meta Pixel loading again, and clears the analytics and advertising cookies that this Site can reach from your browser.
Why this Site uses them
Cookies are used on this Site to keep it working as expected, to remember preferences such as saved properties and dismissed messages, and — where you have accepted — to get an aggregate picture of how visitors find and use the Site. Some are set by us, and some by the third-party services described below.
General categories
Essential (always on). Needed for the Site to load and function — page delivery, security, and first-party browser storage that remembers the properties you save, the filters you last used, and your cookie choice itself. This information stays in your browser.Analytics (only if you accept). Help us understand, in aggregate, which pages and listings are viewed, so the Site can be improved.Marketing (only if you accept). Used by advertising platforms to measure campaigns and show relevant property advertising.
Third-party services
If you accept optional cookies, Google (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads) is released from the restricted mode described above and the Site loads Meta (the Meta Pixel). They then set their own cookies — typically named _ga, _gid, _fbp and _fbc— to recognise a returning browser and attribute visits to a campaign. Those cookies are governed by the relevant provider’s own policies, published on their websites. The providers used may change from time to time, and this page will be updated when they do.
Managing cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block or delete cookies, and offers a private browsing mode that discards them when you close the window — these settings are usually found under Privacy or Site settings. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through the settings offered by the advertising platforms themselves. Blocking cookies is always available to you, though parts of the Site — such as saved properties — may not work as intended afterwards.
